Battery Repair
Repairing and refurbishing lithium batteries needs to be carried out by fully trained professionals in a controlled safe environment. The most common failure of a Lithium Battery is usually to be found within the Battery Management System.
Under no circumstances should mixed cells be added to battery packs as this could create an unstable situation that may lead to thermal runaway.
Battery Testing
In our opinion, it is essential that periodic routine testing of Lithium Batteries takes place, particularly for local authority and public based e-bike and e-scooter services. We would reccommend an annual check-up and certificate of conformity.
Certification
Once tested, official certification will provide evidence of your batteries life expectancy and performance.
This service will prove essential when purchasing or selling second-hand previously owned equipment.
Recycling
Still in its relative infancy here in the UK, we are working closely with industry leaders and senior academics in this area. UK Libra will always repair and resuse as our first option, however ultimately recycling will take place. We will then gather and collect redundant Lithium Batteries for processing into useable base materials for recycling.
Repurposing
As early EV batteries begin to reach the end of their predicted first lifecycle, we have an opportunity to reuse them through a program of repurposing. The automotive sector in particular is keen for this to prove successful and we have made great connections with leading manufacturers that are interested in partner programs.
Training & Advice
Training manuals and safety courses are being developed to help companies that handle and store Lithium Batteries during the course of their everyday operations. Encouraging their teams to adopt and operate ‘best practice’ systems and procedures.
Refurbished Sales
By carefully repairing damaged Lithium Batteries in our laboratories, we are able to redistribute refurbished units back into the market.

We are developing new improved handling, storage, safety equipment and transportation enclosures that we plan to make available to industry.

We are working with leading fire suppression companies, universities and vehicle manufacturers to improve the effectiveness and performance of Fire Suppression Systems against Lithium Battery thermal runaway.
